There are several pieces of research that show that technical analysis does not work. Think about it: If technical analysis allowed you to decide that a stock is going up just simply from looking at the chart, why would the other guy, the guy who sells you the stock, sell you the stock at all? After all, he can as easily look at the same chart as you can.
